HOW DO I...?
Reporting and analytics rest on data governance. A robust data governance program engenders trust in data, supports responsible data use within a well-defined set of parameters, and actively strives to enhance data literacy across the community.
This page is meant to aid the Georgia State community with matters related to data governance. Additional content is forthcoming. If you would like suggest content, please reach out to the Data Governance Manager.
DataGov News is a monthly newsletter of Georgia State's Data Governance Program. A new edition is sent out on the first Thursday of every month. It provides updates and tips to the Georgia State community on data governance and data-related matters. Click here to access all DataGov newsletters. Click here to subscribe to our newsletters.
The Data Cookbook details key university data systems, system details, and system owners. Listed systems are linked to pertinent data elements in the business glossary. To contact a system owner or access contact, click on the system name and the system owner or access contact name.
Faculty, staff, and graduate assistants may require access to data stored in one or more of the university’s enterprise systems: the Student Information System (Banner), Financial Management system (Spectrum), Human Resources system (OneUSG), or the Data Warehouse. Student data are also available in report form in Argos. Self-service applications connected to Banner (i.e., PAWS and Degree Works) and Spectrum, (i.e., PantherMart) are also available to the university community, though they do not typically require an individual to request access.
To learn more about the primary reasons for accessing a system or application, for whom the data are available, and the process to gain access (or view in the case of self-service) to a respective data system or application, click on the relevant '+' below. For comprehensive data system information, please visit the site of the respective system.
